What is Cold Water Immersion?
Cold water immersion is the practice of submerging yourself in water temperatures of 15 °C or less for therapeutic purposes.
Benefits of Cold-Water Immersion:

Do I need a chiller?
You can reap the benefits of cold water therapy without a chiller. However, if you want regularly get your ice bath to temperatures below 15°C without having to add bags and bags of ice as well as extend the duration of using your ice bath without changing the water, you will need an ice bath chiller.
What temperature should I use my ice bath at?
When it comes to ice bath temperature the key is that you should be feeling uncomfortable whilst in the bath and over time look to gradually decrease the temperature. This is as it ensures you are maximising the health benefits of cold water therapy. Although, at a maximum, the water should be no more than 15°C.
How often should I change the water if I leave the chiller on for majority of the time?
If the chiller is on for majority of the time you will only need to change the water every 2-3 weeks and this can be extended even further if you are adding chlorine or bromine tablets to the water regularly.
Can I use the chiller and ice barrel outside?
Yes! Both the chiller and ice barrel and designed specifically so that they can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments. With the SOMA Ice Barrel having a robust and durable design to protect it from the elements as well as a thermo lid to prevent any debris or animals getting into the water. The SOMA chiller is splash proof to provide help it withstand rain. However, it is still advised to have a cover over the chiller when not in use.
